High Tea, a global tea and raw-materials supplier with nearly 36 years in the trade, has opened its first department-store store at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Taipei Station B2. The shop is framed as a World Tea Museum, with nearly 200 teas on the floor and three tasting zones so shoppers can look, smell, taste, and choose.
The company was founded in 1991 and has spent most of that time supplying restaurants, food makers, and brand channels. This is its first move from manufacturing into retail. Taipei Station was chosen because commuters, office workers, students, and travelers already pass through the same hub. The store’s idea is a Home Tea Bar: pick teas by time of day, mood, taste, and what you actually drink at home.
Three rooms, four steps
The aroma display lets you smell a tea’s front, middle, and finish up close. The selected teabag wall treats teas as things you can pick one by one, either as a first bag or as a mix-your-own gift set. The world-tea display gathers nearly 50 teas from different origins and flavor families, so you can start from a scent you like even if you do not know cultivars or growing regions.
Founder and general manager Roger said Taipei Station links MRT, TRA, HSR, and highway buses, so the store sits where several kinds of customer already meet. He called the opening a step from factory to shopper, and said the brand hopes the new store will lift annual retail sales by three to five times.
Bestsellers and 2026 drinks
Opening stock mixes proven sellers with new drinks. Gold Buckwheat Tea, the brand’s top seller, uses Taiwan tartary buckwheat. It is caffeine-free and smells like warm grain. Starry Perilla Green Rooibos pairs South African green rooibos with perilla and butterfly pea, and brews a natural purple liquor.
New for 2026 are Lime Kale Green Latte and Sleep Wild Berry Chamomile Drink. The talking point on the drinks shelf is Golden Wheat Honey Green Tea Sparkling, a non-alcoholic can of green tea with honey, hop aroma, and fine bubbles. It won a 2025 ITI Superior Taste Award. Japanese matcha is also on the shelf, including a Shizuoka premium dense-flavor matcha.
Mid-Autumn gift boxes
The opening lands in the Mid-Autumn gift season. Around the World Tea Gift Box lists at NT$1,200 and sells for NT$972 at the new store. One box holds nine signature teas from eight countries. Alpine Estate Tea Gift Box lists at NT$1,000 and sells for NT$810. It pairs two highland teas: Cloud Ridge Alpine Green Tea and Spring-Picked Darjeeling. Both boxes are opening-only at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Taipei Station and sit at 81 percent of list price, the lowest discount stated for the pair.
Opening offers through October 31
From now through October 31, the whole shop starts at 10 percent off. Buy any 10 selected teabags and you get a functional-powder sample pack. Spend between NT$500 and NT$3,000 and the brand adds further gifts by spend tier. Single-bag buying is built into the teabag wall, so a first try does not have to be a full box.
Taipei Station is also a place people buy gifts on the way home or before a train. The two Mid-Autumn boxes and the teabag mix-and-match setup are aimed at that traffic, not only at dedicated tea drinkers. The museum layout is meant to make origin and cultivar less of a barrier: start with smell, then pick a bag or a boxed set.
